See whether a photo shows where it was taken, and remove its GPS location before you share it.
How to remove hidden data from photos
1
Select one or more JPG, PNG, WEBP or HEIC photos.
2
Read the report: location, camera, names, dates and hidden previews, and the faces and private text on the photo.
3
Click Remove hidden data, then download your clean photos.
Share photos without sharing where you live
Phones save the GPS location in every photo by default, accurate to a few metres. A photo taken at home and sent as a file can show anyone where you live. This page shows whether a photo has a location, with a link to see it on a map, and removes it with the rest of the hidden data.
To stop your phone adding the location, turn off location for the camera in your phone's settings. For photos you've already taken, clean them here before you share them.
Frequently asked questions
Select it here. If it has one, the report shows the coordinates and a Show on a map link.
Yes. Place names written by photo apps (city, country) are removed with the GPS coordinates.
Most big networks remove it from the photos they show, but files sent by e-mail, chat apps that send the original, cloud links and websites often keep it. Cleaning a photo before you send it is the only way to be sure.
No. For JPG, PNG and WEBP only the hidden data is taken out; the picture data stays byte for byte the same. Only blurring faces or text redraws the picture, at high quality.
Only if you want it to be. The colour profile says nothing about you, and keeping it keeps the colours exactly as they were. Untick Keep the colour profile to remove it as well.
Many cameras and editors store a small copy of the photo inside the file. Some apps don't update it when you crop or edit, so it can still show the original picture. Cleaning removes it.
Yes. Add up to 30 photos, check each one's report, and clean them all with one click.
