Turn a photo into a pencil sketch
This page opens on the Pencil sketch style: graphite lines on white paper, drawn from the edges and shading in your photo. Colour pencil keeps the photo's colours under the lines, and Charcoal gives dark, smudged tones on textured paper.
Portraits, pets and buildings make the best sketches. Lower the strength to blend a little of the photo back in. The sketch is made in your browser and saved at up to 2400 pixels on its longer side.
Frequently asked questions

Sharp photos with a clear subject and good light. Portraits and pets suit Pencil sketch and Charcoal, landscapes suit Oil painting and Watercolour, and bold, simple photos suit Pop art.
